Tablet

Has anyone recommendations for a tablet. It's for a friend's daughter who is 7. She showed me a kids tablet but i said she would probably be better with a normal tablet.

I have a Blackberry Playbook, which I love but admit the apps aren't great. She has £150 to spend on one.

I did think the kindle fire but not sure how good they are.

Thanks

Helen

Hiya, what about an ipod touch? Loads of great apps and very easy to use. It is smaller than a tablet but all the kids I know with them just love them. You can pick up a 4th generation 8GB one for under £150 (just!) now. My son had had his for about 2-3 years and I think it surgically implanted itself onto his hand when it came out of the box! You do need a computer to set it up and set up an itunes account.

The iPod touch is brilliant and if they ever get an iPad in years to come, the apps are transferable

Typing this on my new ipad

Brill, will never have a pc / laptop again

Much easier and quicker to use, apps are brill

Only an extra £30 per year on top of my house insurance for cover.

Would highly recommend. If you can't afford outlay you can get an ipad2 from 3 for £69 up front + £25/mth, 24 mth contract - various deals, I went for the new ipad

Now understand why everyone raves about them. Bit like owning a GSD, once you've got one you wouldn't want anything else, but you can't properly explain why when asked.

I couldn't find the size of the touch?

Ipad def out as it's too expensive and she doesn't want to commit to a monthly cost for a 7 year old.

Thanks for the replies.

Helen the touch is roughly the same size as an iPhone

I love my iPad, so much so that it's actually my partners iPad that I got him for Christmas ... And he hardly gets to use it! It is a big expense tho.

Ipod touch is handheld and phone sized Helen. I would definitely recommend it. Apps from free upwards. Your friend's daughter would
Love it. You can also imessage on them ( free service) to other apple devices. It has a double camera so you can message and talk. Now is a good time to buy as the older model has come down in price as they launched the newer model.

Schoolswise- my sister's old school ( private and she teaches) the kids all had an ipad each!!! As a teacher myself I would be in heaven if the kids all had an ipad!!!! I could do so much with them!

Have heard good things about the Nexus 7 but am a total Apple junky!
