OH been having blood tests and praying it's nothing

Hi

OH was very poorly in January and admitted to hospital with pnuemonia. He was tachycardic when I took him in with a high temps and low oxygen levels. Thankfully he was ok to come home after 5 days. But while he was in, they did blood tests and as a result of them, he has been having blood tests every 8-10 weeks since then as his paraprotein levels, amongst other results, are high and our GP has referred him back to the hospital.

He has gone for a skeletal xray this morning and should hopefully get an appointment to see the consultant soon. They want to rule out multiple myeloma so hoping that the xray doesn't see the signs for this. One blood test he had, the Bence Jones, came back negative but the xray should hoping tell us more.

The annoying thing is I rang the hospital last week, after not hearing anything. The consultant's secretary said she had sent a copy of our GP's referral letter to the appointments centre to arrange an appointment, but when I rang the centre, they couldn't find it, this was sent to them three weeks ago. So now we have to wait approx another 6-8 weeks to see him. Good job I rang, otherwise we would have been waiting longer.

He doesn't feel ill, as a result of having pneumonia and not eating, he lost a stone in weight and has gone on to lose another through cutting down, feels fitter and hoping that the high levels are just the way he is. No-one fits into the 'norm' and maybe it's just the way.

Hopefully it is as you say and that is just the norm for him.

Fairplay to him on the continuing weightloss.

I know the unknown if very very worrying so hopefully you will have some definitive answers soon.

Hugs xx

Hi

He had about 12 xrays yesterday and then got home to the letter from the consultant with the appointment date of 14 November so we should know what's going on then.
