Bananas

How can you keep bananas for any length of time in this warm weather?
In the winter I keep them in my back porch where it is cool and they last really well.
Now they are soft in no time at all....I hate soft bananas!

Bananas don't get time to go soft in our house Nip Jen I bought eight yesterday and there is one left We don't swing from trees on anything!
My mum seals her bananas in a food saver bag and pops them in the fridge

I buy them when they are pale yellow and keep them in one of the vegetable drawers in the refrigerator. True the skin gets dark but the bananas inside keep firm for ages.

Believe it or not yesterday evening I had the last of the six I had bought before I had the fall on 11 June. Skin completely dark brown and fair enough the banana itself was a bit soft, but not over soft, and not the slightest bit discoloured.

Tbh I had forgotten about it as I have not been eating properly, otherwise it would have been eaten well before now.

Malka, do you ever give Pereg banana? I have read on a couple of sites that they are beneficial for epileptic dogs, (and also for dogs with Eddie's condition, ulcerative colitis). Have you come across this info. in your research.

Pereg and I usually share a banana [but I get more than she does! ] but if Avner gets a new lot in and has some marked ones he lets me have them for very little. Same with things like cucumbers and sweet peppers - I was over there this morning and he had fresh in [no bananas though] so got a load of cues and red peppers for her.

I have not actually come across anything that says bananas are beneficial for epis but I know that quite a lot of people break off a bit to squish their pills in.

My girls adore bananas, skin and all. Keshi won't eat the skin though and I have to peel her banana and then divide the skin between the others.
if there are any in the reduced section I always get them for after tea for them
