-ditto- but I only had it once, and once was enough thanks

Never wash a chicken, even the teeniest splash on the windowsill could end up in a sarnie...somehow, if you went to open the window and your finger touched the splash.

I always wash red meat that comes in the vacuum bags, and leave it in the fridge overnight uncovered makes for a better roast (or so Gordon says, but he seems to be right).

malka; the halogen roasts chicken excellently..

Any bug that survives cooking deserves to live..

Never thought of washing it. And almost never have meat in the house. far too costly and I no longer like it

Interesting re giblets ; first had this when I came to Ireland. Interesting that turkeys do still have the giblets here.

Rosebud - I cannot get my halogen oven down at the moment [all small appliances are kept in their boxes and on a shelf in my spare room as there is no room in my tiny kitchen] otherwise I would be using it now for the jacket potato I am hoping will work in my new microwave. I only want it soft as my jaw is still very bruised.

I only know about the giblets as I was on a mission last year to get a nice big chicken with giblets to make Xmas dinner, even the butchers down here don' have them any more. I was a rather unhappy bunny... no more giblet gravy

Bad enough that half the kids in the UK think fish fingers come from chicken, now they will only think gravy comes from KFC

That's odd. I'm American and I have neither heard this nor would ever do this. Bleach? My goodness!! Bleach isn't super dangerous to consume (mostly breaks down into sodium) but why would you put chemicals on your foods for no real reason?
