Specialist soft tissue nurse just phoned.

Roxy is doing very well and looking very bright this morning, they've reduced her opioid pain relief. She's had a dressing change, wound looks good and they're just keeping an eye on one area of it just now. They're trying to persuade her to eat just now. All going well she'll be home tomorrow.

Hi Nicola, sorry I missed your posts last Tuesday but I'm delighted to read your update today and I really hope that she is home with you tomorrow, I'm sure she's missed you as much as you have missed her, but it looks like she'll get through this as she did last time, sending lots of good luck vibes and hope to read your update tomorrow.

The not eating thing is probably just because she would rather be at home now that everything is on the mend.

Looking forward to hearing that she is home tomorrow.

Vet phoned just after 6 tonight, saying he had a bit of concer for Roxy as she has vomitted and a bit of her wound doesnt look how it should and she's refusing to eat much. He asked us did we want to come and visit her tomorrow. I suppose that means she's not coming home tomorrow.

Phoned them back to ask could we visit tonight. They said we could visit at 8.30 tonight after evening rounds, so I left work early and we went up.

Was wondering if it would do her more harm than good to go and see her and then leave her again but I'm sure it perked her up a bit, although she still didn't eat anything, and it made us feel better to see her as well.

The sooner she's home the better, she will eat more at home as well, I'm sure.

We'll just have to wait and see what tomorrow brings now.

Oh no, I was so hoping to hear that she was home with you tonight.

All fingers crossed here for Roxy, and another cuddle for you.

Well, Roxy is home!

It wasn't exactly planned but she wasn't eating and was starting to bring up bile because of that which wasn't helping the situation.

Also, there is still concern that a small bit of her wound might become necrotic and that's why they were keeing her in so long to keep an eye on that, which is fair enough but the not eating for days is very worrying.

However, she didn't eat the last time she was in and ate when she got home, same with Molly.

She had a slight black bit on her would the last time as well which healed brilliantly with no problem, so I went armed with pictures to see the vet tonight and showed him them - he said "I see you've come prepared" - yep, 7 pictures from day 1 until the day the last scab came off with lovely, new, fresh, pink skin underneath.

The vet understood our concern and made a deal with us - that we can take her home in the hope she eats, that we contact him immediately if there are any problems and that we bring her back on Monday to see him. We came home with 4 lots of meds as well.

We weren't in the door half an hour and she'd eaten some cottage cheese and some chicken, she has also had a couple of small treat size pieces of liver. I just knew she'd eat when we got him - she's currently settled and sleeping beside me now.

I wound is massive though. And I mean massive.

Molly is beside herself with excitement at all this chicken and liver business!

I hope we've made the right decision and that she has a settled night.
