How can they know if the dog is suitable to live with young children in such a short time - presumably with no home check either.
That's what the local Council pounds do here & apparently they paid £50.00 for the dog.

My friend works in rescue. Any stray dogs are assessed thus kept on well after there 7 days. all people renting need provide letter from landlord. dogs with no history, esp big/strong dogs aren't homed with children

also, just to add, that if a boarding kennel holds a kennelling and reselling contract with a local authority that institution usually isn't arescue centre as that description is understand. its more akin to apet shop

although can't comment on this particular place

Apparently the police are now stating the dog was a"Bulldog", now do they mean a proper Bulldog"Bulldog"or one of the designer "Bulldogs" like the "Olde Trme""American" ?????????

I really do not see a real Bulldog attacking anyone & having to to stabbed to death to get the dog off & I also cannot see a council pound selling a real Bulldog for just £50.

There are so many people wanting a Bulldog(the real ones)& they have to pay upwards of £1,500 for them I cannot see one straying & not being claimed

As for the idiot that is now Mic Martin calling for pet owners only to be allowed 1 dog-this family only had 1 dog !!

I think it is an American bull dog or a cross breed to look like an American bull dog if the pictures of the dog are now to be believed.

Yep all the behaviourists are coming out of the wood work plus the all dogs should be muzzled around children even in their own home brigade

Any dog any breed could do this, to say any one breed cannot do it is crazy.

Well that's not entirely true-very unlikely that a breed like a Pekingese could do this as they have a flat face & cannot bite arms, legs etc, physically impossible, they can only bite things that are put into their mouths!

I think children should be muzzled & shackled around dogs to protect the dogs

They could still do a lot of harm to such a small child. Looking at our tiny Betty she could do a far bit of damage if she ever wanted to.

No breed is entirely safe and we are stupid to ever think they are.

Your Chihuahua has a muzzle, Pekingese do NOT have muzzles & ergo cannot grab arms, legs, faces, the only body parts that a flat faced dog can get hold of are fingers, ears, nose & toes. They do not have the same"jaw"power as a dog with a muzzle either, also if all dogs had to be muzzled around children, how do you muzzle a dog with no muzzle ?

A cat has way more biting power that lat faced breeds, even the tinyest kitten could inflict more damage that a flat faced toy breed
