Hello Pete,
Iam a member of The Scottish Staffordshire bull terrier club commitee, and I am totally in favour of any legal means used to attempt to quantify a Staffords strength and agility. I would not judge as I firmly believe that no one can choose the best dog out of a line up, by the perameters used at a dog show.

housedog i just find it strange someone would be part of a club that holds and promotes kc shows dosent actually agree with them ,but if your a comitee member tryin to change it for what you beleive in then good for you.

If you ain't in it you can't change it, and I have no quarrel with the breed, just those who would lessen it's potency.

In reply to your question Lel, from the old forum on the Kennel Club topic I will have to go back 18yrs to one of the 3 litters I bred in 22yrs, out of this litter I kept a dog pup called Harry, what my own knowledge of dogs told me was that he was over boned from the head to the tail, I had only had Staffords for 3yrs at this time and people whom I thought knowledgeable about the breed insisted that he was pick of the litter with showing in mind, as my wife at the time enjoyed showing we kept Harry he attended 5 shows he was given 1st place at 4 shows and 2 seconds at the 1987 Scottish Champ Show. He was an impessive looking dog, but could not do anywhere near the amount of exercise that my other 3 could do. Harry was severely limited to the amount of exercise he could be given, I saw this every day and I began to question just how knowledgeable the Judges were who had awarded him 1st place, in my opinion not very. I have seen countless dogs identical to Harry over the years, and I am certain that their activity and agility are compromised, just as Harry's was.
