Kennel Club - is it for dogs or people?

In the members opinion, who benifits most from KC affiliation, Humans or Dogs? I am quite certain that the human gets the most advantage out of this marriage.

I would say that dogs in the fields or woods get at least an even share of the pleasure, for the life of me I don't see it in the show ring.

i agree housedog. i hated seeing some of those dogs get yanked about and their legs pulled in every direction to make them stack up properly and all that brushing and fluffing up and then brushing again, i was also concerned about the amount of large mastiff breeds that looked really fat, when they trotted you could see the ripples of fat wobbling from side to side, that is not my idea of the cream of britains dogs

i would rather go to a fun day show or an open show and see kids having fun with their dogs and the money goes to charity or something, that should be what dog showing should be all about

That's pretty much as I see it Spider. For the love of me I can not see where the dog gets any enjoyment. In a Show Ring.

I Love to see my three running through the fields, jumping in ditches, just generally having fun, could't imagine them in a show .But then they are pets, not show dogs...

what do u guys think about owners lifting up the collar as high as possible to make the dog hold its head up? i really hate seeing this, and even tho it probably doesnt hurt the dog, its done with all dogs, so if its not the natural hang of the head then why it be the standard?

Jenny there are things done in the show ring that defy logic, and I am sure that God him or herself, could not pick the best dog out of a line-up simply by walking up and down a mat a few times.

with staffs they are normally baited with a treat to lift there head to get them standing alert im sure youve seen all your dogs out in a feild when somethin catchs there eye and there alert and this is when they look there best stood still.this is what there tryin to reproduce in the ring and the lead is only rested under there neck and not pulled to lift heads.
