Nails

How many people here use a Dremel (or similar) as opposed to using traditional clippers for their dog's nails?

Mine will tolerate clippers but it is a job that none of us enjoy, so I am considering trying a Dremel and would like to hear the experience of others.

Syd used to love his nails dremmeled, he'd fall asleep while I was doing them but the others only tolerated it but with big thick dark nails it's so much easier. Phoenix my black Pug is a nightmare, hates the Dremmel with a vengeance and will only tolerate clippers when I take her by surprise. The others just let me get on with it but not that little minx, I swear she sleeps with one eye on me just in case lol.

I've been using Dremel on my dogs for over 15 years. 3 got used to it very quickly, one took her time, but with her it was more feet than a nail problem. She used to panic when her feet were handled. She's OK with it now.

The dogs will lie on their backs, relaxed, between my knees and let me Dremel away. When I had 3 dogs, they used to queue up - because they would randomly get treats during their pedicure.

I am just thinking of purchasing some clippers to do my dogs nails myself. I can never find any groomers who can do it on a sat and who don't want a fortune to do it for me. I'm going to look dremel up! haha a pedicure makes it sound slightly more relaxing that it will actually be! Thanks for the useful info.
