should you shampoo your dog once a day twice a day or as often as need be?.

You really shouldn't be shampooing your dog that often. If you shampoo too much it will affect the natural oils in the dogs coat. I would only shampoo if the dog got really really dirty or smelly. My dogs are not small or exceptionally furry and luckily do not tend to roll in unmentionables, so I have never had to shampoo them. Just grooming is sufficient.

My GSD's are muck magnets so get a bath usually about once a month. Luckily they love being bathed, blasted and brushed.

If you have a dryer you could go over your dog with that regularly to get some of the crud out of the coat and frquent brushing helps. There are also lots of grooming sprays you can get to keep them smelling sweet.

Dont bath your dog that much, even if your dog as a skin condition, bathing that often can do more problems to the skin.
I have a border collie with Atopy she is 13 years old she has had this problem since she was 2, I bath her weekly with Oatmeal shampoo(dogs), weekly is fine but ideally Monthly is good. try to brush weekly this will keep the coat in tip top condition plus put the natural oils back in the coat

My dogs usually get bathed with doggie shampoo about every 2 months, in the winter its usually more because they get really muddy and smelly, in the summer they probably have 1 or 2 baths in a 6 month summer period, unless they get dirty or roll in something yucky! Otherwise they get spot cleaned and groomed to keep them in nice condition

My dogs are bathed once a year, mud will dry and then be brushed out.

My dogs work outside, I do not want their natural oils stripped and thus be exposed to the elements.

There is no need unless of course you regularly show your dogs.

Sadie gets bathed before her flea treatment every 6 months, which usually falls after she's had her season - which works out great - us women know a good bath makes us feel better

In the summer - it's the hosepipe or a lake - both work well
