Morning Tuesday 22nd January.

Good morning everyone not sure what the weather is doing yet as we are all still tucked up with a cuppa. Well Dillon doesn't have a cuppa.

Moyra hope you are feeling better and that Amber is well to.
Sue wonder what things you have planned to keep you busy again today.
griff hope you are well and all tummies are still behaving.
Mandy sorry about your friend/work colleague. Glad you enjoyed lunch and your stroll with Rosie.
Goodness Chris sometimes lately these organisations are about as good as a chocolate fireguard.
Kazz hope all is well with you and your family and Gert.
brenda love Cold Feet.

The burners yesterday were opulent prices as well opulent by shop name but we got a look at what we like and do not like.
More plants bought where we stopped at a garden centre on our way to look at log burners need more pots now.
Guy who will be doing the work sent a drawing what the flue would look like roughly coming out of the chimney. Looks a bit obtrusive so i was immediately put off.
We did however do some research and the rods to stabilise it or guy wires are not really that bad to be fair his drawing is a bit awful. So we think we will go ahead can't be any worse than some aerials and sky dishes stuck on the side of houses.
Gorden is going to see if he can have a chat with the planning dept., today to see if we will need permission we don't think we do but feel happier having a chat.
Other than that not much else to report today.

Hope everyone and all four legged friends are well.

Morning Lynn and all to follow later. Yep Cold Feet is good viewing. Have ordered a large sack of bird food so just hope they like it. With bird watch coming up at the end of the month I want to be able to get a good mix of birdies. It works out much cheaper than poundstretcher bird food and as they don't have much in at the moment made sense. Just have to store it now without attracting furry visitors. bg!! Bit chilly here and a bit wet. Would prefer snow that would bring the birds. Have a good day folks. bfn.

Morning brenda always good to buy the bird food in bulk if you can.
We had a couple of Sparrows over the weekend on our feeder but other than that nothing yet. There are plenty of trees and shrubs around here with berries and someone walks through the park scattering feed so unlike Harlow and Upwell they do not seem as hungry here.
Hoping to get more and some different varieties think I will need to be patient.

Good morning Lynn and Brenda and all to follow. I trust you and your four legged friends are all fit and well.

Are we going to have snow today? Not before I walk Amber. Wrap up warm and dry and above all stay safe and well. God bless

Good morning Lynn, Brenda an all who follow

Hope the birds like the new seed Brenda

Hope planning isn't required for the flue Lynn and that you soon find a wood burner you like and can afford

Nothing planned today. Wet out but not icy as they said it would be as it felt quite warm so have had a nice walk. Just back and now for a coffee.

Hope all two and four legged are well

Have a good day and stay safe.

Morning Moyra and Sue. Hopefully no snow Moyra.
Affordability is the key Sue especially as the knocking out the chimney breast and putting the flue in is not going to be cheap.
To be honest what we saw in the shop we can get online for less.

Very frosty underfoot here today and very slippery but bright sunshine. Luckily we didn't have to go far to walk Dillon in the park otherwise we would of reconsidered if it had been pavement walking.

And the irony is that they are supposed to get involved to make life easier

It's only a light breeze today, but one of those that cuts right through you it's so cold. The blue skies and sunshine though are good.

Good luck with the fire hunting. I sometimes think that finding something you like at the right price is harder than having the work done.

Afternoon Chris.
Unfortunately they make life harder in some cases gives me a headache remembering back to when I had to sort all these things for mum when she still lived at home. Use to take my time up badly Gorden use to say it was like having a full time job.
Right there about finding the thing is harder than the work we have it down to 2 or 3 that would be possible.
Waiting for an email now back from the council to say if they think we might need planning permission to go that high out of the chimney.
Bloomin nuisance not being able to have a chat with someone over the phone.

Quest for multi fuel burner off. Gorden had a look at the planning criteria properly we could of done some pre-planning application for £100 which would then tell us if we needed planning permission or not and if not we would of had a certificate for the future if we wanted to sell. Chances are we would need planning permission Gorden did a rough measure by eye knowing the height of flue we need and gauged it would be just over 3 metres so another £200 odd pounds for planning. Plus £300 or so for the flue, and the work on knocking the fireplace out and the cost of the burner. We thought around a £1000 with everything this would undoubtedly take it above that and seeings as we do need the burner for heat we have decided to abandon that project.
We are having a builder in to sort out the fireplace for us one hopefully recommended by the guy who was doing the burner and flue and buying one of the opti mist electric stoves. they are so realistic and we can then dress the fireplace with the companion set etc., to give it authenticity.
Bit disappointed to say the least.
It has just got so complicated.
