What would you recomend

A work colleague asked me to help them find a lab pup but knowing they work long hours with a partner who works part time i dont know if a lab would be a good breed choice or any high energy dog for that matter ..I wanna come up with some alternatives and try help them get the right dog for there sakes and the dogs .... murf

Can I just add that I have a GSD and both me and the hubby work full time so she is left for 8 hours mon-fri and she is fine with it.

As long as you go about it correctly, it can work.

I've heard labs aren't so good at being left without destruction though... I agree with the Greyhound option though They are great dogs.

all dogs need to learn to be on their own,being a pack/social animal.how old is the partner? how active are they? for what purpose do they want the dog etc,i can see where your comming from but without much more info its a bit hard sorry
i still think retired greyhound from the info given

But what if the partner is happy to look after it?,

If they are comitted it can work, 4 springers here and both me and OH work full time, granted DOH works earlies and i'm office hours but my lot are still left around 6 hrs

If it`s him that wants the dog, not his OH, I`s suggest he leave the decision to her.
