Are you a considerate dog person?

Just want opinions really !

You leave your house with your dog jogging - across the road you see a person with four dogs - you jog across the road - you see the person with four dogs gathering her dogs up to sit them do you:

Give the person chance to get dogs in sit, stop jogging and wait

Allow the person time to cross the road

or

Continue jogging past completely oblivious to what might happen

I see this a bit like the scenario if you see someone on a walk with their dog on lead but yours is off lead.

i wouldnt have crossed the road

i would have kept jogging with my dog my side of the road and crossed the road further down

i do jog with my dog, so do encounter such scenarios

aside from anything, i want to keep jogging, so wouldnt like obstructions stopping me

Depending on the situation either of the first two may be appropriate..but the 3rd definitely not.

(I'm guessing the 3rd happened to you this morning??)

Hi H - yes it did and I know that its my problem walking 4 dogs and they are under my control so I should have control. But I had zero time to gather them up and whilst a voice command does work - Charlie is a headstrong monkey and he did give a big launch! Yanking my arm. to be honest it was her attitude that got me - completely and utterly oblivous - and I will admit I did give a sarcastic thanks for that!

If one of my boys had of grabbed her dog no doubt it would have been my fault!

I would like to think that I would have been considerate and stopped and not crossed the road until past!

I always stop and sit my dogs when horses go by on the road - even though they don't give too hoots just feel it helps the rider.

And someone ran in front of you causing your dogs to react in some way?

If I see someone with a dog coming towards me on the pavement, if they don't do it first, I always move into the road so there is space between us.

As you say, its a matter of consideration/thoughfulness. To be honest I guess the jogger was just in a world of her own and never gave it a thought.

They reacted in a want to get to sniff that dog kind of way - to be honest I had zero time to move as she literally jogged from out of site round a corner to across the road.

At training the other night the girls were out in the field being trained and a dog owner threw his dogs frisbee directly where they were training. Everyone stood and waited and waited whilst the dog ran to frisbee and just laid there.

The dog then left the frisbee and came up to Max heckles all up / tail all up - I moved Max out the way to stop any eyeballing - what was the owner doing - nothing walking on - I called that he had left the frisbee owner - oh he'll get it - meanwhile training still at standstill! Owner then huffs thought dogs were meant to be social !

To me that is just not considerate - I agree dogs should be able to socialise but if dogs are on lead in a controlled manner why toys directly in front of them? There was the whole of the park to do it?
