Bad News

Damn damn damn. Guess what, Penny has just came into season. We were supposed to have a training class tonight.

Not to mention we won't be able to go to the show with her!! She did the same thing last fall, came into season a month early, and therefore we missed 3 shows (one was on one weekend, the next on the next and so forth).

What do you think guys, should I show her regardless of whether she's in season or not?

That's the problem. If I had a dog I know I would be furious if someone brought an in season bitch to the show.

I won't go then, but I'll still hope that maybe this is a false start.

it would depend what type of show your talking about, if its a championship show then the males are in 1st, and bitches in later, so when shes early or late days id take her still, in our breed we cage them so they are kept well away from others so dont upset them, -if its any other sort of show-no, id not dream of it, as the classes are mixed, the breeds are all sat ringside etc, wouldnt be fair to the dogs, or your bitch, its only 3 weeks after all, :smt102

No it's not a Championship show. I won't take her, but I was rather looking foreward to going as she is also entered in the Junior Handling.

Yes it's only 3 weeks, but the next time I'll be in a show with her is October, and that's if I can get her registered with the FCI (she's AKC reg). If I can't get her FCI reg then until we get back to Greece (year 2006)I can't show, don't know if I'll even show her then as she'll be 9.

She does pick her times.

Even if it is a championship show, unless you are the last breed in on the last day someone with a dog will have to follow you into the ring and also onto the bench.

Some dogs and bitches become unsettled even if they pass a spot on the grass where a bitch has been. Do have sympathy with the bitch owners but it can cause problems not just at the shows but for days afterwards whilst you try not only to get the dog to eat but to keep everything sweet and sunny between the group of males.
