Drontal no-go

Our 10 month old female Shi Tzu has had tapeworm since month 6 when we got her. We have been to vet a dozen times. She has had like 6 drontal treatments and at least 4 injectable droncit. We have seen no change in her output. Immediately after each treatment we see live bunches of segments in her stools which otherwise look normal. She seems in fine health otherwise. Vet sent sample to Bayer who confirmed typical tapeworm. We are to the point where Bayer is sending med free of charge to try to get this figured out. My guess is the dog or something about the worm is creating resistence to the med. We are new to dog ownership so simply follow vet advice. This is an indoor dog and even yard has been treated for fleas. Not sure what to try next.

Just a thought. What are you feeding? Raw or other food? Can she get to eat rabbit droppings as they have tapeworm eggs sometimes in them?

Can you get milbemax in the u.s??? I wonder is the ingredient in that any different? My old dog used to get sick on frontal but was fine with milbemax so I imagine some of the ingredients must be different

I'd also be trying a different worm treatment.

I imagine it's similar to other meds, what suits one, doesn't necessarily do the job for all.

I know that frontline just doesn't work for my girl at all, but stronghold does (both flea treatments). Doesn't make for an easy life trying to get what suits our dogs, does it?
