Idiot at todays companion show

There was a man working around with a dog aggressive dog on a halti who was lunging and growling at everyone and everything, it took a small child off her feet lunging at her dog.
The upshot of this was it was a rescue he'd had him a couple of weeks and the dog had been ill treated and locked in a garage.
As the day went on the poor dog got more and more stressed and subsequently more and more aggresive.
In the end he bought a ball thrower and tapped the dog on the bottom everytime it barked. I was talking to a woman with a spin and we were both saying that it wasnt the place to resocialise the dog in a field surrounded by about 100 dogs!!! when the dogs owners wife came over and gave us both a mouthful.
The other woman pointed out that she was a dog behavourist and that they were doing everything wrong she even gave them he number to which the mad woman replied " how do you know its wrong its not your F"!!$£ dog.
I couldnt keep quiet any longer pointed out it wasnt really hers she'd only just got in and she was being cruel and as some of you know I never know when to shut up so I added for good measure if they hit the dogh once more with the ball thrower they would have to have it surgically removed.
Not sure where all the idiots are crawling out of at the moment.
Oh and by the way the already had a 6 month old lab pup when we said we hoped she didnt leave them together unattended she said oh its ok the labs the alpha male and the other dog loves him!!!!!

Was it "just" lunging and growling at the other dogs?

If you were to see Jess on lead, she barks, lunges and spins at other dogs, but is very dog friendly once she gets to them! I take her to dog shows on a halti.

We can't always be blessed with perfect dogs.

I saw something similar at a companion show. A man had a Rottweiller muzzled but it pinned a Whippet puppy against the wall and terrified it and it was the Whippet's first show. It was intimidating to all the other dogs. My bitch can be reactive to other dogs as she is fearful after being attacked by a Rotty. A dog show with 100 other dogs around is the last place I would take her for her sake and other dog owners, even though she is fine when out on walks. All those strange dogs would be above her fear tolerance levels.

No it wasnt just growling it was snapping at other dogs and children. It needs to be socia
lised slowly not thrown in at the deep end. It was a danger to the other dogs around it, and they sat at the side of the ring on the floor and it was trying to kill all the dogs in the ring.
And no we cant all be blessed with the perfect dog in fact Spence is an absolute nightmare he hates other dogs and gets himse;f sp stressed out he makes himself sick so I avoid putting him in that situation.
Ultimately the dog had a dreadful day beind spun round by his head collar to get him undercontrol and then getting his bottom smacked with a ball thrower.
They were there for 4 hours as well.

Where was the show? Always some idiot around with a dog they can't control at fun shows.. Luckily today Blu wasn't at the other end of the lead with one (he normaly gets attacked by them!) but saw a few from a distance. Some were rescue dogs needing a home and I think maybe the whole day just got too much for them.

It was in a pub garden in Ogden near Bradford, we actually had a very good day we went Best in Show with Ross, but this spoiled it for most of the dogs especailly the ones with kids.
By the way Kerry owner we must have been typing together...snap

The dog should not have been put in that position, too much too soon i think, they should be taking it slowly especially if they haven't had the dog very long and they know its background. They should have had it muzzled as well by the sound of it if they insisted on taking it there.

If it was a companion show do all the entrants have to be registered with the KC?----I am getting very confused about this.

I originally thought companion shopws were the new name for exemption shows but it seems they aren't as the dogs are registered on the companion bit of the KC---is that right?

Thanks

I have to say I think I would of said something too hun, so your not alone there
Maybe they have been told by someone to use the ''flooding'' method, they were most likely very frustrated too, still its no excuse I know

Maybe if there is a next time they may consider doing it differently
