Exeter couple banned from keeping dogs

A couple from Exeter have been banned from owning dogs for 10 years after admitting failure to meet their dog’s needs.

Mazie, their collie cross springer spaniel, was first seen by the RSPCA in April. She had a skin condition and the couple were given money for vet treatment. They failed to go back to the vets for follow up visits, and by the time the RSPCA saw Mazie again, she had developed severe demodectic mange and a flea infestation.
We visited on several occasions and paid for vet treatment but despite this Mazie’s skin was left to gradually worsen to the point that it was inflamed and painful.

Mazie has now found a new home after being treated by the RSPCA.

As well as the 10-year ban, Mazie's former owners Anne Marie Every and Guy Francis Pinn were ordered to pay Ł250 costs each. Every was given a two-year conditional discharge and Pinn was ordered to do 80 hours of unpaid work.
We always want to protect animals and improve their health along with their owners, but this is just not possible where the owners consistently fail to take us up on this help and advice.

That poor dog - those people should have been banned for life.

Oh, poor girl! The difference in the photos is amazing. Glad it was easily treated and she is better now. Kinda strange that you'd sit and watch your dog get into that bad of shape.
