Homing Requirement: Dee (Dexter) needs a dog experienced family who can allow Dexter to build human trust further and overcome some difficulties encountered as a puppy. He needs to live with calm canine role models, perhaps not terriers, as long as his owner understands terriers. Dexter is neutered, vax'd and chipped.

His Story: Long story, but Dexter's original owners encouraged his excitement, but didn't teach him to gauge it. He bit on occasions and mis-advice lead them to pushing him out of their pack and Dexter becoming defensive. Dexter is learning to trust, but he now needs a consistent home setting to achieve the therapy and training which has been begun. Sadly his new homing has broken down for reasons beyond his control.

Advert Dexter is young, bright and showing such talent for agility. He is great to live with other dogs and also mixes well outside. He lost his home initially through confused advice given to first time terrier owners not really getting to grips with puppy behaviour. Sadly Dexter can be mistrustful of human fast movements, so needs an adult household where children do not feature, unless occasional respectful visitors. He is still learning and maturing. We are hopeful as he achieves consistent messages and builds trust, he will calm and lose occasional defensive responses, he has biten.

Dexter needs to live with at least one other dog ... not necessarily a terrier, but his owners do need to 'get' terriers and appreciate that you respect them and never pitch your wits against them. Dexter needs to learn to enjoy ... you know how serious terriers can be! 'Weight of the world on their shoulders'! He now has a good foundation, just needs to learn to trust, a good canine role model & patient, sincere owners to polish the diamond to perfection!

If you are interested in re-homing please complete our homing questionnaire so we can ensure our dogs are matched and will suit your circumstances/lifestyle.

Dee (Dexter) has been lucky and has gone into a foster home. Here is an update from his fosterer:

“Little Dex has settled in beautifully, he has so many skills for an 8 month old puppy:

His house training is perfect.

He's great with other dogs.

He's fine with my cat, a little over curious perhaps, no malice, but being a terrier he would probably chase if Ozzy ran away!

He's not a noisy lad, rarely barks unless there's a good reason, and then only briefly.

He sleeps over night in a crate in the lounge, with no fuss or whining.

He eats his dinner beside mine without any fuss.

So he's a clever little lad, with shining eyes and a waggy tail”!

[b]Dee (Dexter) is available for adoption – if you are seriously interested in adopting him then please complete our online homing questionnaire on this link: [Link removed - please read our Posting Guidelines re link drops, thanks]
