But because (read the title) I do research and I make sure I understand what I do, before getting one. Asking "weird" or "dumb" questions is a normal way to learn.

The background of my thought about leaving 2 dogs for few days is that if they are 2 they wont be alone because they are with each other.

According to your reaction, It looks like I'm wrong. I forget to take into consideration that dog won't just use the toilet. But the idea is to understand the separation anxiety.

I'm not ready to adopt a dog right now but I'll get myself to it, in 5 months most likely.

Also a dog grass box looks good to have.
I will choose an apartment that has a door directly to the outside.
Finding the right apartment is another important aspect that I will consider.
I won't get a small dog. I'll bring my dog through wet mud during the summer and mountains of snow during the winter in the tough forest of north-ish Canada. Look this video you will see what I mean:
Is Pancho alive? Why chihuahuas don't run in the snow - The making of - YouTube
I think you have made your own case for not getting a dog at this stage.

DO NOT GET A DOG MARK !! Seriously, if you think it is ok to leave a dog or 2 dogs home alone for a few days you are completely mad!! You just cannot do that, end of.

I cannot believe you are serious ... this is a wind-up and not funny.

I can commit that sort of effort, I'll make sure I really can through real facts and achievements.

I also want a thoroughly understand everything that I should before...

Also, I'm not mad read the whole post: Asking "weird" or "dumb" questions is a normal way to learn.

OK facts.

Dogs need feeding a good quality food twice a day. You cannot make them miss a meal.

Dogs go to the loo anything up to a dozen times a day and a big dog will need to go outside to wee or poo

Dogs need exercise daily. In the case of a big dog, look at a couple of hours plus.

Dogs need training and play - again taking up time.

It is unfair to leave a dog alone all day while you work then leave them again at night while you socialise.

Dogs need fresh water every day.

Dogs can be noisy/destructive monsters when left alone unless they have been trained to accept this from an early age. Neighbours, particularly neighbours in an apartment can naturally become very upset by this and there's no quick and easy fix.

Vet bills can run into thousands of pounds - particularly with a large breed that is more prone to hip problems

All of these things are there for the life of the dog which can be 12-16 years. There's no time off, no excuses. These are a dog's needs and they need to be met

I would agree with most of the above however all my dogs of whatever size have only been fed once a day once fully grown.
They go to the loo on average twice a day but wee far more often.
The amount of exercise dogs need varies but 2 hours a day is a good bench mark.
You can live in an apartment with a dog, you could live in a shed, I personally would prefer not to. In fact I wouldn't choose to live in an apartment without a dog.
If you go away for a couple of days at a time you will need someone to step into your shoes and feed the dog, let it out and exercise it as the bare minimum. You can't just leave them home alone and expect everything to be fine.
The thing is we are all different, dogs are all different but your life has to revolve around the dogs not the other way around.

Great post, very constructive. Thank you.
These are the general lines, I make sure I figure all them out.

Mark: most of what Trouble says is pure commonsense and needs no figuring out.

I am seriously concerned about you getting a dog
