Parvo?

One of my customers (and friends) dogs is in the vets ill.
My friend went on holiday, and she got back, off the plane and had a phonecall from the kennels saying her dog, Ursula, was at the vets on a drip.
She rushed to the vets, and Ursula was on different drips, hardly responded, laying down, vets didnt know what it was.

We've seen her yesterday, and the vets are saying it may be parvo.

Vets seem to be fobbing her off a bit, dont seem to know whats wrong!

What are the implications of having parvo, and how can it affect a dog in the future if it pulls through?

Just heard from my customer...it is a mutation of Parvo.

Ursula nearly died on Thursday, but she's getting a bit better now.
Today she had a lick of scrambled eggs, and she's started to stand up

How old is Ursula?. Parvo tends to attack the very young and the very old, I am assuming that if she was in kennels, she would have been vaccinated against Parvo.
Symptoms are, vomitting and diarrohea, usually with blood in the faeces, no appetite, not drinking and basically giving up. The diarrohea usually has an intensely foul smell.
Parvo is fatal in most cases, its the dehydration that kills.
I think the vet may be fobbing off your friend, there are other illnesses that are quite similar to Parvo, but can be more easily cured.
I had 3 pups in the vets at one time, with suspected Parvo, 2 of them survived and are both healthy adults.
i sincerely hope your friends dog recovers

Hi, Usrula is a rotie, and is nearly 1 year old.
Yep, she is vaccinated against Parvo.

I'm sure the vets arent telling her owner the whole truth...
She was in solation before (whichI expected), and you had to dip your feet & wear a gown before you went in, dip your feet after etc.

I hope she gets better though, she is absolutely gorgeous, she comes and visits me at work, and always says Hi to Teagan.

Wats also worrying is the vets are seeming to make excuses for the kennels. They are saying it coudn't be there she caught it from, as they take their own dogs there.

Thing is, Ursulas owner told me something that makes me thing the kennels isn't as great as everyone makes it out to be!

Thats what I told her owner.
I would be on the phone to the kennels asking questions.
Im not blaming the kennels, but they haren't even been in touch with the lady to ask how Ursula is!
