Torn Tendon

Mia has torn some tendons in her left back leg, got home last night to find her limping round the house, took her to the vets and they have given her tablets to take.
I’ve been told light exercise is best for her, my question is do you think swimming will help build up the muscles? We have a hydrotherapy pool near us and they apparently deal with injuries like this.
If swimming will help her do they let you in the pool with your dog, Mia loves swimming in the lake near us but I don’t know how she would react in a swimming pool.

Swimming sounds like a great idea; she can exercise without putting too much stress on the injured tendons. Probably shouldn't do too much to begin with, not whilst it is still very sore.

I'm sure that she would love to swim in a swimming pool, especially if you can go in with her. I'll have to find out if there is anywhere like that for dogs around here. How did you find out about the one near you?

*Big hug* to Mia, get well soon :smt058

Hi,

Swimming allows the leg to move naturally, without the body weight to agrevate the injury.

Good Idea, and Good Luck to. . .
