Advise for my limping springer

Hello, my dog has had extensive surgery on his back leg, he has false ligaments and screws in it. 2 weeks ago he hurt himself while chasing ducks, he has been limping for two weeks but now he has carried his leg since Sunday. I was limiting his walks to just 2 x 20 mins on the lead but now I have cut it down to 10 mins each walk. He is currently on madecam medicine and joint tablets. What can I do to help him? He lets me touch his leg/foot put he won't put it down...

I would really appreciate your advice.

Tone

hello, how long ago did he have the surgery? I think that if he was mine I would take him back to the vets as there could be a possibility of a screw or plate moving, are they carbon fibre tendons.

I too am wondering how long ago the surgery was carried out because if it was recently then any walking at all would be out of the question probably.

Perhaps a quick return visit to the vet is in order just to check on things, and get some advice.

Good luck.

Hi,

it was in 2009... he was pushing his leg against me last night while I was lying next to him with some force, this morning tried to use it to stand but not for long..

should I leave it until the end of the week before I take him to the vets?

my dog also has had alot of surgery on her left back leg I find with her she goes and holds her leg up when she has overdone it then the rest of the time she's hobbly but using the leg. I would ring vets up and see if they recommend him going to be checked out I hope he's better soon.

Do not try by your own. first consult your vet Doctor. just spend some more time with him. play some activity in which he do not need to move his legs. Please share if you found any new idea.
