Photos from great day out at village fete & dog show

Went to a local dog show and fete today in aid of a nearby dogs' home. It was only 5 miles down the road and Parker took "Best-in-Show"!

He won "Best Veteran" out of about 12 dogs and "Best trick" and came 2nd (out of 3!) in "Best high jump".

Here's what he won.....I think I may get his name engraved on the best-in-show trophy as I get to keep it.

The category "best trick" they said you had up to 3 minutes to do some tricks with your dog. The other contenders just did 1 trick each. I got Parker to do a string of heelwork to music moves as i thought people watching (about 100) would like to see this. I hope they enjoyed it!

Here's some more of Parker wearing his rosettes...

"Ah thank goodness I have my bobble back on-I can see again!

Funnily enough while we were sitting down a few minutes before the show started, the lady in front of me turned round and said "I know you are sitting near me but I really think your dog is the best one here" (aah!)

She then went on to say that she was getting a "Scottie-Poo" (!-why not a "Pottie"?) as it was a new breed. I tactfully pointed out that this was not in fact a new breed but a cross-breed and she needed to make sure the relevant health tests were carried out on the pup's parents. She was listening to what I was saying and thanked me so I hope she does!

Thanks for looking.

PS-he is nine and a half so I didn't really expect him to win as I know he is an older dog now. This is his 5th "Best-in-Show" award.

They put me on the spot as they had a young girl with a microphone commenting and after the judge handed me the trophy she asked me if I would like to say something! Felt like I was at the Oscars! I just said "Thank you very much and the most important thing about my dog is that he has a lovely temperament and that is what counts"

Thanks-it was a nice surprise which ended a lovely weekend as my husband's sister (whom he hasn't seen since our wedding nearly 11 years ago) came up for the weekend.

Yes-you should see the way he moves-he really struts. My Sister-in-law (who doesn't know much about dogs) commented on his lovely movement.

Yes-he proved he has beauty and brains this weekend! (actually I'm not so sure about the brains as he only does the tricks for treats!)
