Stinky doggy

God help me, Sophie reeks. Now, I know her teeth aren't so great and the toothpaste I use on her is essentially beef paste (?) but she stinks everywhere! Just stroking her makes my hands smell, and she's had two baths since we've had her and she gets regular 'bed-baths' every day with bathing wipes from Pets At Home. She's on the same diet as Satchmo, pretty much and she doesn't roll in anything nasty. Satchmo never smells at all (apart from noxious farts) - before we got Soph you couldn't tell we had a dog in the house.

Any ideas? Anything natural or homeopathic I can add to her diet? Short of following her around with a can of Haze, I'm at a loss.

I use baby wet wipes on Abe for a quick fix before visiting non dog owning people as despite being spotlessly clean-they claim he smells!

Also great for cleaning his ears-which he lovessssssss and will sit there patiently. :smt026

Could it be that the food does not agree with Sophie?

Possibly. When she first came to us she was on Hill's Prescription Diet and had been for a short while, but I've changed her to the light version of Pro Plan. So she's been on two types of kibble since she's been with us and still stinks.

I love her very much, but when I'm cuddling her I have to turn my face away

I'm another who'd go for the food theory.
If you've checked all her orifices it must be just coming from her skin - being excreted through it. Perhaps one of the doggie 'health supplements' like Dene's Greenleaf would help?

No, it's not yeasty - it's more like the smell most dogs normally have but multiplied tens times. I don't know how to describe it; it's not the kinda smell that would have me thinking of infections or anything like that.

I'm not against changing her food again - I just want a variety of possible causes in case a diet change doesn't work LOL.
