ISA Advice

Does anyone know if you can start both a mini and a maxi ISA?
Cheers.

I am fairly sure that you can only do one at a time in each financial year (individually) If you want to do both, you could open a mini in your name and a maxi in OH name (they go on NI number)

For the 2005/2006 tax year:

You can invest up to £7,000 in a maxi ISA. This can be £7,000 in stocks and shares, or up to £3,000 in cash with the balance in stocks and shares.

You can invest up to £4,000 in a stocks and shares mini ISA and/or up to £3,000 in a cash mini ISA.

You can have only one cash mini-ISA and you cannot invest in a maxi and mini ISA within the same tax year.

If you are looking for a cash mini-ISA (max investment of £3000), are you looking for long term investment or do you want easy access ?

See here for an explanation on ISA's: http://www.halifaxisas.co.uk/guide/index.asp?

If you go here: http://www.moneysupermarket.com/ISA/CompareIsasForm.asp

you can select different product types and it should give you a range of suitable products with the best rates.
