Did you know dogs are put down in this country in pounds after just 7 days, we save as many as we can and put into dog rescue centres or even pay boarding kennels.

Lovely website Doris, and for a very good cause too.

I just have one quibble, and that is that not ALL pounds put to sleep after 7 days. (I know, because I am fortunate to work at one that doesn't).

Yes you are right not all pounds do, but most do.
Some of the police pounds don't even allow rescues in no matter how much we plead and beg. They get paid more to put the animals to sleep than house them waiting for new homes.
We've even heard stories of pounds not feeding the dogs after 5 days as they know they will be put to sleep.

Some pounds are brillient and I'm not trying to undermind the hard work some do -just point out that alot don't look after the dogs well and don't even try to rehome them.

The reason I started this thread is because people were havning the discussion that any healthy dog can not be put to sleep with out a vallid reason in this country.

This is so untrue I could be physically sick. Thousands get put down every year because no one wants them- no other reason.

Sorry.... really starting to rank and rave now!
We have got lovely dogs, slowy they are going to new homes.
