Moonfruit

I was recommended this site by a friend to run my blog off of it instead of using blogger - as apparently it is a lot more customisable and just generally better.

So far I have found it harder to use, and generally not as good, but as I have paid for it now, I will try and use it the best I can.

If anyone has any hints and tips on how to use it then do let me know!

For a blog, what about something like wordpress or tmblr?

Never used Moonfruit, but it looks more like a website builder for businesses.

I think, looking back now, that wordpress would be the better option for a Blog, but this is the one that was recommended to me at the time by a friend, so I am going to have to just go with it now I have paid for it - even though it isn't much!

Just makes life a little more complicated is all!

The thing about computer orientated stuff, is that nothing is wasted - it's all good experience

Okay I think I am just going to use WordPress! I will just transfer my domain name over onto the WordPress one. Should be fairly easy to do eh? I surely won't have to use moon fruits site builder as I am only paying for the domain name/web space?

ETA: turns out you can't use WordPress with moon fruit... Seems I am stuck with it now!

What is the site about? Is it business related where you need your own domain?

If so for wordpress you will need it hosted somewhere.

The cheapest option however would be to sign up a wordpress blog or tumblr, then sign up a domain and just 'point' the domain to your wordpress or tumblr blog

Its just a personal type blog, but I prefer to have a desperate domain name and have it hosted so that the main site (WordPress/blogger etc...) can't just take it down with no warning as has happened to people before!

Not done this before though, but I don't like moon fruit.

I've never used wordpress.com, but I think you can make backups? If so you could go with that and just point your domain to your site, and then when you feel ready for it get a hosted account and move your blog posts there via your backups

I emailed them last night and they replied today saying they will give me a refund! Now to just wait for that to go through and try WordPress! The free version first this time
