Recovering administrator password

Ok, to cut a long story short, sisters boyfriend now off the scene, but before leaving put admin passwords on both her computers and refuses to tell her what they are. She has pictures that she wants to recover of her children as babies etc. so doesn't want to format. Is there anyway of recovering the admin password?

It's a windows 7 operating system.

I'm not sure about how to reset Windows 7 passwords, but so long as the hard drive was not encrypted, you should be able to connect the hard drive (maybe via a USB disk reader) to another computer and copy all your photos (and other files) directly of it

My delightful ex did this to me in a strop after I caught him with his pants down somewhere they shouldn't be... thankfully he left the helpful hint of "what you are" so it was a case of running through obscenities and insults to find the one he'd decided to call me that day.

From Googling I'd found it looked like a lost cause unless I could do that. Thankfully his repertoire of swear words and insults toward women was limited to say the least!

My OH reckons if she takes the PCs to a specialist shop and tells them she's forgotten the passwords, they will be able to unlock them for her.

He said be sure to say she's forgotten, not that someone else set them in case the people at the shop think she's trying to access something she shouldn't.

He did this along with a head butt breaking her nose as a departing gift - 5 times he put her in hospital during their 12 month relationship, thankfully she's seen the light, called the police on him, he got an 18 month suspended sentence!
