AKITA in need of help - Herts:

Just wondering if anyone can advise?

I have been made aware of a young male Akita being kept in a cage all day, every day. The woman who told me about him is a fellow dog owner at my local park; she has tried several Akita rescues: one keeps saying it will help but meanwhile three weeks later it hasn't. The Mayhew Animal Home insisted the owner gets in touch - the owner couldn't give a damn, hence the problem!

Does anyone have any ideas? Many thanks

Well unless the owner is willing to re home her dog, there is nothing anyone can really do.

RSPCA surely? That is an act of cruelty imo.

What is the owner's view?

Agreed. Hopefully the RSPCA would act.

The owner is apparently happy for anyone to take the dog, she simply can't or won't do anything for him - he doesn't even have a name.

The japanese akita welfare trust, the friends of akitas and the akita rescue and welfare trust are the 3 UK Akita breed specific rescues. If they are told of his story they would help rehome.

Poor, poor kita, what a life of misery. Such a loyal, loving breed too, i bet the excuse of an owner gets a wag of the tail and bright eyes too Breaks my heart.
