I never knew that, thanks What's with the salt then - I know sometimes vets recommend it to induce vomiting?

Apparently when you become dehydrated you lose alot of salt from your body which in turn causes symptoms such as sever muscle aches etc (which i was having) I feel MUCH better now, the anti nausea drugs are amazing (though have to disolve them in mouth and they taste disgusting!!)

A good home made rehydration drink for vomiting and/or diarrhoea is to make up the following:

I litre of water.
½ teaspoon [2.5g] baking soda ***
½ teaspoon [2.5g] table salt
3 - 4 tablespoons [45 - 60g] sugar.

Sip in small amounts during the day, and make up more if needed.

*** If you do not have any baking soda do not worry. It is the water/salt/sugar ratio that is the most important.

And it does not taste bad, honestly!

Have a look at this website about re-hydration:

http://www.talcuk.org/about.htm

I wanted a couple of the measures

http://www.talcuk.org/accessories/su...t-measures.htm

so sent them a donation to pay for a couple for myself and a number for distribution where necessary.

I actually use one of the measures now for Pereg's ground Milk Thistle [a heaped amount in the larger measure] and Taurine powder [about half the amount in the smaller measure end]. I have no idea what they actually hold but it seems to be the correct amount.

The instructions are for diarrhoea and also for vomiting where too much fluid has been lost from the body.
