[QUOTE=Ramble;1612916]Brilliant. Don't get in touch with the behaviourist if you don't want to Elaine, it was just an option.
We've been pondering the Delamere classes ourselves.... [/QUOTE

When we got Ben and started taking him, he was the opposite to Poppy very submissive. The trainer was lovely and took Ben over, by the end of the first class we had him walking to heel and really being a good boy, still a bit nervous though, the second time Ben was a little more up for it. The lessons will be held no matter the weather, so be prepared, raincoats wellies etc.
The only reason we stopped was because Ben was so nervous in the car. We felt the stress of the journey there and back was undoing all that we had learnt. Ben is better in the car now, so after a few weeks on our own with Poppy, we will bring Ben along too. There's a nic lake on the way home too, so a quick dip, if it's not too cold. I went swimming with Ben in there last year...fantastic.
Elaine xx

We havn't been since Summer, just so much going on...I used to take Fudge in the week which was a mixed ability class. It did me good so see more advanced dogs and to see what we were worjking towards. It also meant that she could have a play time as the trainer does not have back to back classes...

The weekend classes are graded so Fudge would be in a different one sadly. HOWEVER, if you decide to carry on over to Delamere for a walk afterwards let me know!!!

The trainer mentioned sounds a good one but can I just say, remember dogs who are "aggressive" can behave totally differently if they are overwhelmed as they don't know who to focus on so can appear to behave differently.

Also it's important reward methods are used, because anything too negative can be associated with other dogs, people etc...and if fear is involved then anything harsh is just counterproductive anyway.

If the trainer does things like walking dogs right outside of the class it sounds as if he may be aware of critical distances etc so hopefully it will be of help.

Good luck!

i dont think she is agressive shes just got a collie nip reflex born out of misunderstanding & frustratioon. IF this is dealt with as agression then the likely hood is she will end up agressive.

Barbara sykes would be a great point of call, even her book is brill
