Pearl barley - is it safe?

Just a quickie, sometimes I homecook for the dogs and was planning to make them a sort of lamb and pearl barley stew for their sunday lunch tomorrow... but I have never seen pearl barley in dog food, that I have seen anyway and wondered is it safe?
Thanks in advance

Definitely safe, and may well suit dogs that are not so good with wheat or rice.

Have you ever tried making a risotto from pearl barley? (for yourself, but I'm sure there will some takers for any leftovers!). Really delicious and a good change from rice.
