Don't feed her too much - sounds trite, but it is the elephant in the room. Obesity is a simple mathematical equation - to lose weight you have to put in less than you put out; in other words, cut down the calorific intake and increase the exercise. 10 minute walks for even a toy dog are nowhere near enough exercise, so no wonder she is fat ... walking and running sounds really good, and as she loses the weight she will enjoy this more and more. Good luck x

Cut out any treats and extras if she has them and increasing her exercise.

If that has no effect, then reduce her meal slightly. See how that goes.

If no joy, reduce a little more.

DO NOT crash diet

Sadly the only way is to increase the exercise gradually as you are doing and to reduce the food intake at the same time. It won't be a quick fix though and will take quite a while, any improvement will be worth the effort.

85 pounds is almost 40kg. That's quite a big dog. Mine is about 35kg and I walk him around 10 miles or 16 km a day. Three hours a day. If I tried 10 minutes he make a point of waiting for me to move. "It isn't enough daddy!"
Tips:
  1. More exercise.
  2. Less food.
