Can my dog be allergic to me?

Hi!

Well I have a golden retriever and I play with him daily, but I've noticed that after I pet him, he starts to sneeze. Nothing while I do, it happens particularly after I have stopped, he stands up and starts to sneeze.

If I pet him for certain amount of time (15–20 minutes) he starts to gag like he's going to throw up and I have to go so that he doesn't, or blow softly into his nose and so he relaxes. The thing is that if I keep on petting him ignoring the gags, he eventually does vomit.

I don't wear any perfume, lotions, hair products, or anything really. I don't wear wool, yarn or any other fuzzy clothes.

Can he be allergic to me? Or can he be having a nervous reaction?

He can get stressed or overly excited very easily.

Thank you

My dogs get sneezing fits when they are too wound up with me petting or playing with them, but they've never vomited. Is he upside down when this happens?

Does he sneeze when others pet him too?

Does he like to be petted?

Sneezing can be a way of telling us they are uncomfortable with what's going on so he may be that he just doesn't like to be overly petted if that makes sense?

He usually rolls over so I scratch his belly, and he's normal, but when he gets back up, he sneezes.

This also happens when he just sits to get pet. The thing is that he sneezes only when I stop petting him, not while I do.

The thing is that he lives just whit me and my parents –who don't really like dogs all that much– and I'm the only one who pets him.

He does like to be petted, he gets very excited each time

It does make sense, but the thing is that the sneezing starts when I take my hand away from him. Whether I pet him twice o for 10-20 minutes. Could it be that he's just uncomfortable with me leaving?

Sometimes a dog can develop allergies after a while even if the dog was around the allergen with no problems initially. I had a dog that it happened to. He was fine with his food, then became allergic later on.
