Articles for working trials

I know you should use anything and everything, but what articles do people use regularly and/or come up in competition?

I have just started my articles bag and so far have :

plastic clothes peg
wooden clothes peg
jam jar lid
knotted sock
ball on rope
small plastic tub
toilet roll tube
kitchen roll tube
shotgun cartridge
a key
plastic comb
Tictac box

What other things should I look at getting my dog used to picking up?

thought I would have a clear out.
various lengths of chain, pieces of rubber, empty biro tube, key ring, matchbox, small cat collar, largenut and bolt(5inch), dolly's arm.bits of cut up dog collar.

I remember many many years ago(only one article in CD square then) competing under Jack Cree on Lauder common.my GSD brought out of the square a fircone which was indeed the article in an area surrounded by conifers.

Thanks for that Jeanette. I will be able to add some of the articles you have mentioned straightaway but just hunting around the house and the workshop.

at the fir cone!! Did you believe your dog? Would you have been heavily penalised for sending her into the square to check again?

I was really pleased with Zak yesterday. He will pick up anything (which is great) but initially I was always having to give the article a little shove or a throw to get him to retrieve it, rather than just indicating on it. Yesterday the whole thing seemed to be starting to click in his head, and he collected all but one article without any interference from me (other than my encouragement outside the square of course).

So chuffed

What other odd articles have you had in competition?

Any other funny/shocking/amazing/unusual working trials tales would be most welcome

I would quite often put in more articles than I wanted out sometimes I would put 6 in and only ask for 3 out.
I'm trying to muster up the courage about something that happened in the 70s or 80s but will any one else know who I am talking about as at that time this breed was not very common in WTs. Its really very funny

Need a good assortment of materials.

I have similar to above and bits of rope, garden hose pipe, bits of plastic pipe, padlocks, randoms from the tool box, old watches.

Seen used at trials - old mobile phones, beer mats, clothes hanger, rubber bungs, strips of material incl leather, nuts and bolts.

You will turn into a magpie...
