Broken nail

Cain has broken his nail (fairly sure he slammed into the door while barking at the postman ). It's his front claw. He's snapped the tip right off, it was hanging by a thread, I had to clip it off. He has broken it down to the quick, however the quick is totally intact, no blood or anything: I gave it a good prod, it doesn't seem to hurt at all and the nail bed is intact.

Will it be ok and just grow back? Or should I be concerned that the quick is exposed?

Depends on how much is exposed, I would clean it, dress it and keep it off the road for a few days (ie wear a boot) and redress it daily (to ensure that there is no infection, swelling etc).

But only do this if you are experienced at bandaging, you will need soffban, conforming bandage and vetwrap.

Razzle`s just done that as well. ( I know his claws are too long and am trying to get someone to come and clip them.) He seems fine though - not limping at all - so I`ve just left it. They grow back.
