Triaditis!

Hi guys,

My dog has just been diagnoised with triaditis.

Ziva has always had these episode type spells of where she would vomit really violently and suffer from a pain in her lower stomach area. The vomit would often just be thick yellow or orange foam along with a black bile type substance.
We have been back in forth to the vets for the last few years getting numerous of tests done all which never seemed to pin point the exact cause of what was going on with her, except the obvious which appeared to be cronic reflux.

We tried a number of medications to see if we could help relieve Zivas symptoms some of which worked and reduced the amount of episodes she had.

Anyway last month (april 12) Ziva was admitted into the vets for 5 days with vomiting and stomach pain again- it had been almost a year since her last episode- after trying her on the usual meds, antepsin, zantac etc a specialist was called to come up and look at her.

He was fairly confident that Ziva had this triaditis, but wanted to do some more blood work to help confirm this theory.

Anyway on Tuesday the results came back that she has got it and we are currently taking steps to start controlling it.

Sorry my posts are usually long winded and complicated lol

Basically i wanted to know if anyone has heard or dealt with triaditis before and if so could you offer me any help or advice.

Thanks

I am sorry that poor Ziva has been having problems. I have never heard of Triaditis, but googled it as I'm always keen to learn about dog ailments. I gather its inflammation, and effects the liver, pancreas and bowel.
I'll keep an eye on this thread to see if other people have had dogs with this problem. Apparently it is more common in cats!
I hope she can be given medication to sort it and stop her being in pain.

Thanks Jenny, she has been through the wars but come out fighting.
Yeah what you have found is right, thats what the vets have told me, but they can not determine what causes it and which flares up first.
It is more common in cats however it is on the rise in dogs, or so i have been told.
She is currently taking some meds to help keep the inflamation down and gets cerinea if she is vomiting.

I really would be glad of any advice or info from anyone, always looking to further my knowledge, and help my rotten rottie
