Also can anyone answer a question for me regarding insurance. We're with Direct Line and if we choose to claim the biopsy on insurance am i supposed to notify them before he has the treatment or after?

Although you keep thinking it would be better if it had been done when he was younger I would think it better not to delay any longer.
Did you ask the vet why no one had suggested this op before?

I don't think they'll cover it because he was born with this - it would count as a pre-existing condition (worth checking though, just in case...)

Esme, you're not a professional , you can only be guided by the vets, so please, don't feel guilty. You only ever do the best for Monty, you're a good mum *hugs*
I'd ring Direct Line and ask them - best be on the safe side .
