Skye Terrier - My dream dog growing up and feel so lucky to own one now and will always have a Skye in my life, will always be my favourite breed.

Lhasa Apso - Own one and they are such characters.

Golden Retriever - The first breed of dog i owned and always will hold a special place in my heart.

Bearded Collies - These are stunning dogs something i would love in the future.

Basset Griffon Vendeen (Grand or Petit) - Another breed i've always liked and want to own in the future

Oooh this is a tricky one.

I own a Cocker Spaniel and a Border Collie so they're obviously high on my list but I'll exclude them from my "top 5 breeds" list otherwise I always struggle. Cheating? Me? Never!

1. Rottweiler - I absolutely love the breed. Sadly often get owned by the wrong type of people and as a result of such tend to be a massively understood breed.
2. Doberman - for the same reason as the Rotties above.
3. German Shepherd - similar reason to above but for some reason I just absolutely adore them. Think they're an amazing breed with a phenomenal ability to learn.
4. Bernese Mountain Dog - stunning example of an "extra large" breed. Gorgeous coat and usually an even more gorgeous personality. If only I had room in my car for one! (For transporting purposes, you understand, I wouldn't keep it in the boot! )
5. Labrador and/or a Black or Golden Retriever - sorry, I know this is technically 6 breeds but I simply cannot choose between a labrador or a retriever. They are so similar anyway, I thought you might let me get away with this one. Despite being similar, they obviously do still have their different traits and tendancies. My dad has always been a labrador owner (until recent years) so I suppose it might be genetic.

At last - someone who likes the Anatolian. These dogs are the most fantastic, loyal protectors and my boy is simply gorgeous. If I had to name 5, they would be

Anatolian Shepherd Dog
NI
GSD
Leonberger
Old English Sheepdog

I am looking mainly at smaller breeds, increasing years and the longevity of the dogs etc etc.

Basenjis - obviously

Chinese Crested - big dog little body, (Hairless)

Papillon - Pretty little dogs

Husky - was seriously considered when I changed breeds, but I would have ended up with loads so ruled out.

Min Schnauzers - I have always loved these dogs, I don't know about the trimming though!

My first love was my Afghans but not included here. I am more likely when I am too old to have a puppy to adopt an older dog of any persuasion whose owner has passed on, I always feel for those little mites who were probably well loved and are left homeless.
