Hi Sweep I make a similar casserole to Christine's but you can also add a few drops of worcester sauce, a cup of stock, a cup of red wine and some potatoes

To thicken it you can puree a carrot and a potato or 2 with a bit of the sauce and add it back in I'm scared of using cornflour cos it always goes lumpy on me
