At the moment, our best guard dog is our little Shiba Inu. The Huskies would let anyone in and give them a huge welcome, and the Leonberger sounds the part, but is so soft that she would join in with the huskies.
The best guard dogs we have ever had were our two Hungarian Kuvasz. Frighteningly intelligent and independent, brilliant judges of character and fast enough to catch and hold any intruders.
