Recommend me a vacuum cleaner

I'm in desperate need of a new hoover, mines is barely picking up (it's a second hand one I bought after my fab old one broke). I can't afford a dyson, so has to be no more than £150. Obv with 3 cats and the dog I need a powerful one Any ideas folks?

I have a hoover hurricane, they are about £70 on amazon.

Its powerful, nearly sucks my carpet up Its as good if not better than a dyson IMO.

We found that none of the 'normal' vacuum cleaners were powerful enough for all the hairs that Newfies shed on a daily basis Finaly found the Bosch GAS25 which is an industrial quality unit with a special device which shakes the filter after each use and keeps it clean.

All the domestic ones suffer from 'clogged up' filters and that's why the suction is so useless.

Unfortunately it is around £170 + VAT

I have a Miele Cat and Dog which I have had since I cannot remember when. It consistently is the top in Which? tests.

http://www.miele.co.uk/vacuum-cleane...gturbo5000-76/

All my domestic appliances are German and none have needed replacement since their origina purchase.

I have no idea what they cost now, but for me, on a cost per use basis it has worked out extremely good value for money.

Have a look at the Henry or Karcher.

I'm another that cannot recommend the Miele cat and Dog enough. I have had it for years and was well worth spending that bit extra on as the suction is still as good as new and it does right up to the edges effortlessly.
I had tried many many before that and nothing came close in comparison.

You're the same as me then, if I need any new tools in the workshop, or the garden, or any domestic appliances I look first to see if Bosch make one and buy that.

It's not just about flashy advertising, it's about availability of spare parts and accessories, comprehensive user manuals, and good after sales service, in the end it always pays to buy quality and there's such a lot of c**p comming from the other side of the world.

Cylinder, I prefer them as they are lighter and you can under furniture and upstairs easier.
