Police looking for GSDs and Rotties

Greater Manchester Police are looking for "...either German Shepherds, Rottweilers or cross breeds of the two, aged 12 to 18 months who have a good temperament and are willing to play games with a ball or other dog toys."

I didn't know UK Police forces are using Rottweilers these days - though I guess they need them in Manchester

Wonder why they don't look at rescues though - GSDs are one of the most popular breeds in rescues from what I remember and that's probably their best bet for a cross between the two too.

But I agree! Why don't they look to the rescues!

i was under the impression that they had their own breeding programme across the country now, mind you a friend of mine who is a serving dog handler told me that the cuts were hitting the dog handlers hard and maybe they are going back to the days of hand ins.
