HELP - I found an injured pigeon

I think it's wings are damaged and we have it outside in a box with newspaper, water and birdseed. Is this the right thing to do with it and is there anything else I can do? Will a vet look at it tomorrow if it's wild pigeon?

Anyone know?

I'm beside myself, the poor thing.

Not alot else you can do I don't think. Just place the box somewhere quiet, dark and dry and see if it's still with us in the morning. Sorry I can't add anything more, you've done all you can. Fingers crossed.

Ashlady said it all, just keep it quiet and dark and see how it is in the morning. I wouldn't worry about food at the moment as it should be fairly fat at this time of year, that is if its a wild one and not a racer. Sometimes if they have banged into something and are stunned they go a bit floppy and useless, just giving it a rest and keeping it in the dark should do the trick. i'm not sure whether a vet will look at it LS, although if you have a wildlife sanctuary nearby they might be able to help you.

yes try getting hold of a santuary in the morning if it is still alive
poor thing
doe,s it have a band on its foot as it coould be a racing one?
keep it warm and quiet is the best thing
hope it makes it
normally if it has been the hurt it is the shock that kills them rather than the injury

Thanks guys. I didn't notice a band but it is was dark and I didn't want to frighten him. I'll have a look in the morning - I do know of a bird sanctuary, it's a good few miles away but I will try them tomorrow.
Thanks.

Oh cheers Jackie - I will do that.
If not, I have found Tiggywinkles is about 30 miles from here so I will take it there tomorrow morning.
