Sunday is a 8 week old flashy red male boxer pup(leg issues)

21-07-12 Sunday is a divine 8 week old male boxer pup. He came in with his brother as could not be sold by the breeder. Both pups have bent front legs. Both pups are going to the specialist on Friday. We hope the leg problems are caused by rickets because, if that's the case, with sun and vitamins they could come right but we will have to see what the specialist thinks. Sunday is a really lovely pup.

This just makes me very sad, and very angry.

Another easy dispose option for what seems like another unethical breeder or puppy farmer. They are too young to suffer from Rickets, naturally (imo) - so I imagine the mother has been kept locked up somewhere away from daylight herself, passing the condition on - if they do have rickets.

Wish Many Tears would stop being part of the problem.

I doubt you can pass it on, if they have it at all, have they been seem by a vet,

Why did the breeder not take the responsibility for her pups, instead of passing the problem on, yet again

Obviously because she is NOT a responsible breeder. Yet again.

Luckily for these little chaps Many Tears have stepped in.

I don't think that as dog lovers any of us would wish on them the other option.

Would we?

If they do have it, I would imagine the mother is deficient in Vit D too - and the pup's being affected due to lack of correct nutrients - in this case vit d - in the womb.

I'm not 100% certain now, but when I looked into it (after I was diagnosed with vit d deficiency) human children who's mothers were vit d deficient while carrying were much more likely to get rickets and at a younger age.

Thinking about it - if this is a case of Rickets, I think it could qualify as an animal welfare issue and should be reported - because it could suggest the mother is a breeding bitch who has been kept in an area with no natural daylight (/exercise?) possibly in excess of a year or more

You could suggest it to them----or even report it yourself. I am not sure enough that the only cause would be what you suggest.

I think it would depend what the vet says - they'll have a better idea of possible causes. I can't think of any other reason why two pups from the same litter at such a young age would have Rickets.
