Faye, I am truly sorry for all that you have been through. I can only imagine how you have been feeling.
I too remember Dutch when he first joined Dogsey.
RIP Dutch

Have just read through this thread. Can only echo what the above few posters have said. In an earlier post SB said something along the lines of not waiting until the dog had severely injured someone. And sounds as if it was a 'near thing' and a lucky escape with the incident involving the child. I don't think you had any choice. I can't see anyone criticising your decision only feeling sorry for the situation you found yourself in. They might have done so if you had made the decision only after someone got badly injured - you did the right thing IMHO.

I remember when I first saw pictures of him, I remember telling you how slim (for a basset!) he was.

Very sorry to hear this. *hugs*

Oh, so so sorry I don't think anyone could criticise you for such a decision. I remember when he was a puppy... It must be hard for you to have come on here and tell us all...

Run Free Dutch xx

really sorry to read this.

You made a responsible decision, and it was probably better now than if he had managed to injure someone.

RIP x

Thank you so much to everyone for your kind words, it means so much to me that others are so supportive.

Here is my most recent photo of Dutch before we said goodbye. My beautiful boy, asleep as usual, lazy basset! RIP.
