Song in my head please help....

have this song in my head and I can't remember who sang it if I ever indeed knew. I had it on a tape when I was a teenager so it is an oldie!can anyone point me in the right direction....

The chorus goes something like

It is quite rocky and sung by a man with a very earthy voice.
