I am pleasantly surprised at the attitudes about it

I just don't like the taste very much so don't eat it. I've tried squirrel as well and don't like the taste of that, although do like other gamey meats.

My old boss used to bake a squirrel pie and bring it to work nearly every week

I looove Rabbit.

I would much rather eat Rabbit (or any wild game) than an intensively reared chicken or pig

I think rabbit has a funny taste, and smell, to it. I would eat it if i was skint though lol.

I guess you don't see it in supermarkets because the demand isn't there.

I've seen it selling for £5.50 in a butchers, which ain't cheap!

£5.50-thats an impressive mark up for what is essentially an agricultural pest. I shoot several hundred a year and the price i get varies with who i sell them to from 50p still in the fur to £1.

Not keen on the taste of rabbit though as i find it a wee bit too strong.

It is a massive mark up.

A lot of local butchers sells game and I have seen pheasant in a supermarket. I think pigeon is a little harder to get hold of as I've rarely seen it being sold. Not sure whether that is down to area or not. Lovely taste though and I do like it.

You need to find a traditional butcher/game dealer or failing that ask around if anyone shoots/snares or ferrets them and if you're lucky they'll skin & gut it for you too.

I prefer the taste to pheasant.

I buy locally shot rabbits from a local butcher for £3/4 for my mum, all gutted etc. My dogs quite often catch kill and eat rabbit but will not eat pigeon if they catch them!
