my youngest does this to the leader,usually when they are both tired,seems to his way to see if she is reseptive to a snooze together,if my female protests, he will lay somewhere else.

Copper and Jet lick each other a lot, mouth, face, eyes, a nibble of the fur, almost like a mutual grooming session.
