Duke, male Newfoundland X, DOB 2011

Duke, Newfoundland X, DOB 2011 – Shepperton, Surrey

Homing Requirements: Duke needs a caring home who are aware of his disability and deficit in skills and willing to commit to bringing him through into a fulfilled life. Duke's housetraining is being assessed. Duke needs further training to promote his trusting relationship and enables him to grasp what is expected of him without just lying down in a submission stance.

Video: Duke learning to trust and walk tall

His Story: Duke was found with 2 German Shepherds tied to a tree in a park, all filthy dirty so believed to have been living in a 'yard'. Duke has been wormed, advocated, is now neutered, chipped and going through vaccinations. Duke has been taken into temporary foster with John who runs a rescue for German Shepherds to help Duke recover from his neuter and to provide the dog company that Duke really values to promote his rehabilitation.

Advert: Duke is a big bear of a dog who seems to have been born with deficits in his leg joints which have restricted growth and muscle strength due to not having the right input to support him. He is subservient by nature and adores dogs company. He isn't aggressive in any form and needs to develop trust, confidence and awareness of how to embrace a lifestyle to meet his needs.

Duke is a large breed ?Newfoundland X, black thick curly coated and about 1-2 years old. He may have been born with slight deformity to his leg joints or due it may be due to poor nutrition that his growth was affected. He is lacking in confidence and doesn't understand how to walk on a lead. He is just learning how, with supportive people, that he can come through into life and receive what he so belatedly deserves.
